IP level standard

IP indicates access protection.

International Electrotechnical Commission "Protection Classes of enclosures (IP codes)".

Protection Class (IP code) IEC 60529 defines the classification of the protection class of electrical equipment to prevent foreign objects (such as tools, dust, fingers) and damp gases from entering its housing. This classification method is represented by the letter "IP" (access protection) followed by two numbers.

Protection Level - the first number

The first digit of the IP code indicates the degree of protection from the human body touching the moving parts and the degree of protection from solid foreign objects entering the enclosure of the device.

0 - No special protection

1 - Prevent large parts of the body (such as the hands) or prevent the entry of solid materials with a diameter greater than 50mm

2 - Prevent entry of objects not exceeding 80mm in length and 12mm in diameter

3 - Prevent tools, wires and other objects with a diameter or thickness greater than 2.5 mm from entering

4 - Prevent the entry of solid materials with a diameter or thickness greater than 1.0 mm

5 - Prevent dust and dirt from affecting device operation

6 - Completely dust proof

Protection Level - second number

The second number indicates the degree of protection to prevent water from entering the equipment housing in various forms (such as dripping, spraying, dipping, etc.).

0 - No special protection

1 - Prevent water from dripping vertically

2 - Prevent water from dripping at an Angle of no more than 15°

3 - Prevent water from spraying in

4 - Prevent water from splashing in

5 - Prevent water from pouring into the nozzle

6 - Prevent large amounts of seawater or water with jet pressure from entering

7 - Prevent water from entering during short immersion

8 - Prevent water from entering during a complete, continuous submerged process (submerged at a depth of at least 1 meter for 15 minutes).
